Cinderella, a Quilt Show and My Novel

Yesterday was great :D I went to this quilt and antique show in my town in upstate NY. The quilts were pretty new and awesomely colorful. The antiques though... ahhh history is brilliant! There was a phonograph from 1900, a 1940s hat, a 1950s hat, WWII medals and photos, WWI era dresses and jackets- and there was a railroad car from the 1880s!! Sadly I couldn't go inside but I could look inside. Old cramped bedrooms and bathrooms... it was interesting.

After that, I went to the new live-action movie of Cinderella. I usually don't like these kinds of movies, but it was actually very good. The acting was great, and the animations as well. I like how they didn't make Cinderella a weak "damsel in distress" if you know what I mean. And the message it added, "Have courage and be kind." was a nice touch too.

And before the movie started, there was a Frozen short called Frozen Fever. Sooo cute!! In case you don't know the plot, it's Anna's birthday and Elsa is trying to make it as perfect as possible. "Making Today a Perfect Day" was stuck in my head for the most of yesterday. Now I have *surprise* Buffy score songs in my head like "Sacrifice" from the episode The Gift, and the Once More With Feeling soundtrack is still in my head too. Here's "Sacrifice" which is guaranteed to make you cry if you're a Buffy fan and gah know what happens:

Anywho, I'm almost done for real with that chapter four! I even have been working on it *gasp* I'll add a part of it that I thought was random and funny xD It's three Reptilians, or reptile humanoids, the antagonists in my novel, arguing in a lair in Ilusions, Inc. (where Gwen's dad works) disguised as scientists. Well, it's mainly two of them that don't agree too well:

"Mm mm mm- as you walk on by, will you call my name? Da da da!"
"Shut up Craig!" The other scientist besides him moaned. It looked like the guy Lyra had been chasing. "Honestly! How can you even enjoy these meaningless sound frequencies the humans so adore? Are you a human, Craig? Because I'm starting to think you are."
"No, no, I'm not! I like Simple Minds and uh the Ramones, ok? Is that so bad? I'm not even breaking the code, are I?”
“This,” Another, taller scientist stepped between them. “Is a place of secrecy. Do you want the whole building to know about us? The plan is so close to being finished, and you chatterboxes might as well ruin it with your ongoing arguments!”
“We apologize, mister. We did not intend to be so loud.”
“We?! You mean you ‘did not intend to be so loud’. Go apologize, Craig.”
“No, Hector. I shall not apologize when it is you that needs to do so.”
“Your scales are showing Craig! Scaly Craig, scaly Craig- it is your fault!”
“What did I just say?” The taller scientist spat in their faces. “Do you two listen to a word your leaders say?”
“Of- of course! We are terribly sorry, mister.”
“Actually- oof!” Craig jabbed Hector in the stomach. “Yes, we are terribly sorry.”

I have a weird sense of humor, don't I? I was cracking up at this for awhile last night xD If you get the references, I applaud you.

I think it's ok if I make a post on the Father-Daughter Dance I went to with a pic, right? I'm thinking of getting an Instagram to promote my art and maybe novel and to connect with peeps I haven't seen in awhile so yeah pictures of me and all will be on there. (Man it's hard to concentrate with Lego Star Wars on) So yup. I think that's all, mis amigos. Bye-o~

New Books Yay!!

Super excited about the books I got in the mail yesterday! Trying to go through them slow, as they are comic books. I don't usually read comics, but these ones are good. Trust me.

Bone: Tall Tales is super-duper good, especially if you're a Bone fan. If you're not, go read it. Just go. Tall Tales takes place after the Bone series when the Bone cousins, Fone Bone, Phoney Bone, and Smiley Bone get back to Boneville. Sadly, no there are no pictures of Boneville. Smiley and his rat creature friend, Bartleby, bring three Bones to go out camping in the forest, and there Smiley Bone tells tales, like Phoney and Fone Bone following a treasure map to somewhere trying to get out of laundry duties at Gran'ma Ben's, and many Big Johnson Bone stories, the founder of Boneville.

I haven't finished it yet, but let me tell ya. Johnson Bone is a bit wacked xD And, of course, his tales are a bit tall, but entertaining no matter. Again, I definitely recommend this to a Bone fan. I didn't realize how much I missed the Bone cousins when I opened this. I mean, I have the whole volume of Bone (1332 pages whaaat) but I've been reading other books and have forgotten it on my book pile on my chair. I should really clean that up sometime :|

So yup. Go read this. Love Bone. Cry over Bone. Live Bone. (I know barely anyone has heard of it that I know of sadly. Bone needs to live on in generations to come!)

Yep, I got a Spike comic. I couldn't resist. Apparently it takes place during season 9 whoops spoilers. Not so much though. But gahhh the illustrations are amazing! And I can practically hear Spike talking through the pages! So heh the summary: **SPOILERS**

Spike's ready for a vacation from everything, mostly his life, and, well, Buffy the vampire slayer. So he hitches a ride on a spaceship with bug aliens. Yup, that was pretty weird. But I got used to them. They're actually funny, and they worship Spike as their leader xD So anyway, he's headed to the moon for the heck of it until he's stopped by some demons looking for Sunnydale. And then people from Spike's past pop up, and a new demon girl Morgan tempts him to move on from Buffy.

*internal screaming* No no no no. I'm a hard shipper for Spuffy (and Bangel, pretty much equally but at the moment my Spuffy feels are high) so I have to say I reaaaally don't like Morgan. I mean, she's a good character, I give her credit for that. But her with Spike?! Nah. Nope. Nada. Anywho, I recommend this if you've finished Buffy already or hey even if you're not it's still awesome :D

So those were my two comic books! Cool to the beans indeed, fellow friends. What do you think of them? You guys gonna check them out? Or you think they're stupid :O They're not, though. Like I said, trust me. When Kyra says a book is good, it is. It just is.

I'm working on some art this week too, so be patient peeps! Here's a gif to say good-bye for now!

More Art By the Kyra Lyn Moss... And More

Hey-o peeps! How goes thee? I know I didn't post any art this week since I sort of had an art-block and was lazy, so here's some now:

Cute Baymax I drew! I recently rewatched Big Hero 6 and love it even more <3

Hedgehog dude I drew. ;3  Inspired by this French artist.

Oldie old old drawing I drew back in December for my novel. Don't steal peeps.

Currently trying to keep away from watching the rest of season 5 of Buffy because it's so darn addicting. Plus I'm waiting for certain peeps to catch up ;) In the meantime I will be rewatching episodes and attempting to watch Firefly. I started the first episode and have no idea what's going on. The only part I understood was "Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!" I may try out Angel and Carmilla too, both of which I keep getting recommended for.

Also, I went to this awesome Father-Daughter Dance in NJ and danced so hard my feet hurt afterwards and I couldn't get to sleep for awhile xD But hey, I got a trophy for dancing excellently to Uptown Funk haha. It was worth it! Totally and completely. I got penne ale vodka, chicken francaise, meatballs bread and all and actually finished it, when I normally am full by then! And the ice cream there- heavenly. (My dad took two.)

I encourage you fellow peeps to check out my sidebar too, in which I have my deviantart and Pinterest :D It'd be cool if you followed either or both! And I now have a followers widget, so following this blog (that doesn't have to be via e-mail) would also be cool beans. Thanks again!

*sniffle* Nostalgic Story Time, Peeps!

I haven't been feeling too well since Saturday because of a darned cold. But hey, now that I've left school early, I feel a lot better :D And the pomegranate tea that I'm having is awesome. My Rudolph nose is feeling okay too.

This brought up a memory from 3rd grade, which I shall now recite to you, peeps. Practically anyone I know has already been told this story, so I'll tell you guys.

'Twas November 17th of the 3rd grade back in 2009, my birthday. The day before I was sick with the cold like I am now. I was feeling pretty good (not the best though) and I really wanted to go to school that day to see my friends. The whole class was glad to see me, which was cool beans. Those were the days *nostalgic face*

Anyway, after everyone was done hugging me and all, we talked and went to class and all that. The real action started when I went to viola lessons. (I only played the viola for one year and, well, I hated it xD I much rather prefer the flute.) When I got there, I felt sort of dizzy and light headed. I thought going to the bathroom would help, but alas it did not. I went back to the music room, playing my viola. Then we took a break, putting our violas on our stands. After that, it was really weird. I became super sleepy all of a sudden and thought I was back at home in my room. And then I fell backwards, fainting, in slow motion, or, um, it felt like slow motion. I could have sworn I was right on my bed when I fainted. I woke up a few seconds later to see my music teacher panicking, much like this:

"KYRA!!! We have to get you to the nurse, right now!!!" screamed my music teacher as the other students just stared at me.
"No, I feel fine. I can walk an everything-"
"IT'S NOT SAFE! *internal sob* We'll get you a wheelchair, ok?!" He looked worriedly at me. I managed a nonchalant shrug.
"Um, I don't really need one. I feel fine now..." But he had already gone off and gotten one of the nurses within a few seconds. Or at least that's how I remember it.

Before I knew it I was swept onto a wheelchair and rushed to the nurse's office. I saw one of my friends peek through our class's door and her eyes went wide. Soon word had spread of my new-found sickness. I called my dad to pick me up (I was mostly forced to) and then, just as we were leaving, my teacher gave us a bag of notes from my classmates with feel better soon cards and everything. Everyone did it and ahhh it was really nice of them :-)

I then spent the most part of the day watching TV with my dad woot woot. I felt good the next day, in case you are wondering.

I hope that's the case tomorrow, because I have an upcoming test on The Pearl by John Steinbeck tomorrow, and this Father Daughter Dance Friday. I can't have a Rudolph nose then D: I probably won't *doesn't want to jinx it*

And gahhh I'll go back to my writing and all I would have this weekend had it not been for my cold. Oh, I also finally watched Big Hero 6 and I love it!! You definitely know I love it if I make a whole Pinterest board about it xD Anywho, ta-ta friends! I'm back to sipping tea, writing e-mails and doing basically nothing. *doo wee doooo*

Random Animal Sketchdump

Ahhhh here it is I really like how it turned out no matter the giant echidna in the middle:

Awwww I get a warm and fuzzy feeling whenever I look at these guys. I mean, the platypus and that standing otter guy ahh! And that giant echidna haha I just love 'em all x3

I think I'm getting better and better at drawing :D That snake turned out pretty well. And by the way, most of this was done by memory. Except for the snake. I sort of looked at a picture for reference, but then I shut zee book.

So do you guys like it? I hope you peeps do! I worked pretty hard on it, even though they're doodles. Comments are appreciated as always :3

EDIT: I did Bullwinkle's antlers wrong oops they're upside down. I'll go fix that right now...

Old Music And More Rant ♫

Ok I just need to type this up after I heard one of my classmates say in health, "Yeah, our teacher was talking about the Monkey Boys or something. Oh, *annoyed sigh* the Beatles."

I cannot tell you how underestimated the Beatles are with my age group and younger! Gosh darn it! Have they even listened to Twist And Shout, Hey Jude, I Saw Her Standing There, Can't Buy Me Love, Here Comes the Sun, and countless others?! So many people my grade listen to strictly and usually ONLY pop music and it bugs me a ton!! What about classic rock you guys?? Rolling Stones, Van Morrison, Bob Marley (reggae but still), 80s bands like Simple Minds, The Alarm, the Thompson Twins... sigh. Listen and appreciate older music, kids!

Then there's so many people that are obsessed with reality shows or something. I don't much care for them. Who cares what's going to happen in their lives? It doesn't matter! I'm not saying all reality shows are terrible, but the majority I've seen are pains. I can live with My Cat from Hell and heck even Call of the Wildman on Animal Planet, but others are just dumb. Nobody, or a ton of people anyway, even seem to care or notice older shows! Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I Love Lucy, The Twilight Zone, Quantum Leap... I'm not forcing anyone to watch these, but they shouldn't be ignored just because they don't air anymore. You know what I mean?

I think that's my rant for the day. Short, I know, so I will make it up with a Buffy gif of Xander and another because why not.

Xander, don't speak Latin in front of the books.

Joan of Arc had a pretty close relationship with God ;)

I plan on posting a sketchdump tomorrow of random animals! And to sketch up a scene from my novel, which should be a challenge, so that might take a bit. But tomorrow, you'll have my sketchdump and possibly a story that I previously promised.

Art Day Number Tree

Yo peeps! It's the day of art from me :3 Besides that, I also plan on typing up a story of mine. Those are always fun to read :D Anywho, here they be:

An updated version of Dennis the mouse from The Valiard Mansion by wonderfully amazing Ez on deviant art :) Go check her art out! And of course, her novel The Valiard Mansion!

My project for social studies, in which you had to make a propaganda poster from WWI. I made the fruits and veggies on my iPad with Procreate, as I usually do, and I printed them out, the background done in colored pencil.

A platypus :-) Awwww I just love how his eyes came out!

Sketches I did from inside the writing guidebook, The Wonderbook, by Jeff VanderMeer, and illustrated by Jeremy Zerfoss :D

Dalek from my favorite show ever (tied with Buffy) Doctor Who! I like how sketchy and doodley it is :3

Th-th-that's all folks! I'm really, honestly, nearly done with chapter four. Yus! And I should work on some doodles to keep up my five a week thing I do here...

You Are Amazing And So Tis Your Blog Award

So, I got tagged by me friend and fellow blogger, Olivia the Geek, for a blog award thingy :D Thanks again! I'll go answer zee questions...

1. What's your favorite book series?
Egads, I don't know! My mind is drawing a blank. Ok, not completely. Let's see- I really love the Warriors series, though not-so-much with the Dawn of the Clans. It was basically my life 4th-6th grade. Besides that series, I currently love Redwall, Bone, and WondLa. I could fangirl for hours over Bone though. That ending scene was ahhhhh and *blurts out spoilers* I know the question meant one series, but heh. I can't decide xD
Oh yesss *maniacal laughter for no good reason*
2. Is your hair curly, straight or wavy?
Straight for most of my life. It used to be a little wavy at the very bottom, but now it's totally straight. I like it though :3 Like Buffy's season four hairstyle! Though my hair is dark brown.

3. Are you totally obsessed with Polaroids like I am?
Alas, not really. *looks up pictures* Ok, now it looks really cool. I'd love to have one! And even though it's not Polaroid, I do like to take pictures with my Canon once in awhile. Here's a few:
From 2012 when I went hiking a lot. Found this little guy and I had to take a picture!
The field is beautiful in upstate NY where I am at my vacation house. I love the flowers! The yellow are cat's ears and orange-ish red are orange hankweeds. I know my flowers- mostly ;)
4. Do you know how to French braid?
Sadly, no. I can't so much as make a ponytail, to be honest. I hadn't really done anything to my hair until last year sooo welp. I really need to learn how to make a ponytail by cross country camp this August xP

5. What blog that you follow has your favorite design?
Hmm I don't know! I don't know many people on here yet, though I will. So far I like everybody's designs! Though I really like Olivia the Geek's one ;3

I tag basically anyone who hasn't done this yet. Anyone. Yup. Now I must go write a wee bit more of that chapter four I keep talking about. I fixed it up during recess, so I just need to finish it! Hopefully by the end of this week. Ta-ta friends!

Sledding ^-^

This weekend I'm up at my vacation house in upstate NY. Once I was done doing a really long social studies project and English homework, and done playing Crossy Road *cough* I went sledding down our driveway. It's pretty long for a driveway, being around 120 meters. And perfectly steep for sledding, I must say. Here's a photo of it:
It was all icy too :D
I kept going down the driveway until I lost count of how many times I went down. Some rides I went on my stomach, like you're supposed to, and others I went on my back, which I tended to get farther down the driveway with. The farthest I got was the end of the driveway up to the mailbox! One of the most memorable rides, though, was when I crashed into an ice boulder and it sent me flying. I rolled down th hill a little bit up to the fifth or sixth pine tree on the right side. That sure hurt, but it was fun xD

Besides going down the driveway, I also went near the machine shop (where my dad keeps the tractor for mowing) and the snow plow that goes to our house has packed a lot of snow near the garage door. There's about two feet of it xD I walked through it and it went over my knee! When I got to the top, it felt like I was seven foot haha. Then I walked down and sighed, because I am 5'3 1/2 in real life. Ok, not so bad, I know. My brother's still taller than me though grrr

Anywho, it's just so nice and peaceful up here compared to the suburbs. Chickadees are chirping and snow gently falling with the fire on inside...

I think I should write more of that chapter four. I sort of messed up in the middle of it darn. For now I'll have some bread, waiting for dinner.

Art Day :3

It's Tuesday and you (hopefully) know what that means! I'll post five pieces of my artwork. The day is subject to change at the moment just to let you guys know.

I think I finally got down her look! That hair took me awhile though. I don't know how to draw stakes...

Random seahorse. The background was really fun to draw and I just love the blues!

A redraw I did of Lyra. I like her hair the best :3

It's a mix between an otter and a bear, like in the Big Dipper. Might go back and fix it up later. For now, it's good enough.

My MC, Gwen Blackwell, skating on a river. Based on the song, River, by Joni Mitchell.

That's all, folks! Now, chocolate chip cookies are calling me. I may have a two hour delay or something with all this snow. A foot came down apparently o_o And now it's raining or sleeting. Joy.

March 2, 2015

Stuffity Stuff

It's that time in which Kyra sort of doubts her artwork after looking at different pieces on deviant art. Gah! How do they draw so well?! The Spike I drew looks shameful compared to others and so does my Buffy D: I just do mostly simple drawings but... sigh. I shouldn't compare myself to others, right? Who cares? I'm a good artist, and I'm improving each day!

Heh. Well, I know I am getting better, sure. But I still don't get lighting and shadows much. I feel like I should be at that level already! I mean, it doesn't look like it should be hard for me. Except it is. Darn.

If you guys know how to help me improve upon lighting and shadows, that would help :D

Anywho, I don't want to bore you with me complaining. I'll catch you guys up on what's been going on in my life:

Watching Buffy The Vampire Slayer a lot, writing that chapter four of The Illusion which is coming along nicely, drawing like I said already, and school. School. Heh. Lately it just hasn't been fun. I don't know what to say to most people anymore, I don't understand the crap that's going on with social groups and I'm being ignored for the most part until spring track starts up again. Because that's what I'm known for. Running. I love running, don't get me wrong. I'm not Mr. Intense about it, but I'd also like to be known for my writing and drawing :D But alas, not at the moment. There's nobody that fangirls over Buffy either. Yes, I know it's an older show. Still! I mean, 99% of the 8th grade have not clue what I Love Lucy is, or The Twilight Zone. And that's a pain. Lunch is a pain as well because, you didn't guess it- it's awkward time.

My life is not bad, to make it clear. I'm just a little frustrated at the moment. I want 2015 to be a great year! It has been, yes, but I'd like it to get better. Because so far it's...

Ok, that's been building up inside of me for awhile. I needed to get that out. Phew :P I feel mostly better than before. I think watching Buffy and writing some more of that chapter four will help too :-)
