Designing A Logo

So, I thought I'd do a logo of some sort. I tried it on Sumo Paint. Unfortunately they didn't have the Blogger fonts on there, so I made do with what I had.
So, what do you think? I used a similiar picture I used for my wallpaper in the background, and got to the closest possible color for the lettering by looking at the coding and all. And even though Sumo doesn't have the Blogger fonts, I was pretty happy with these.

And hey, I may have a logo when my book gets published. Who knows? That would be pretty darn cool! I always wanted to have something with "All rights reserved" and stuff like that. Anywho, I'm thinking aloud here. What do you peeps think? Is the color hard to see or something of the other? Hope you like it! :-)

The Illusion Concepts

As the school year comes closer, I thought I'd post more things about my novel. I'm going to be doing cross country and school projects and all, and that's going to sound boring if I post all about that. Only if it was an interesting school day since I'm not expecting much to happen this year. (I hope I'm wrong) And there'll be a Doctor Who episode review or book review here and there as well ;-)

Anyway, I'll be posting once or twice a week, maybe more, about my novel and how it's going. Before you know it it'll be out there and published! :D After tons of editing though. So here's a concept of my novel that I drew:
I'll have to explain some things since this makes sense only to me at the moment. Kyra Lyn Moss is pretty much my pen name if you didn't catch on, and the bird there is supposed to be a phoenix, a symbol for a company Phoenix Co. in my novel. The watch says 'Ultra Silver' and the shuttle below it says 'Phoenix 003'. There's also a sketchbook above the pyramid and a concept of a Reptillian, the main villains in my book above the title The Illusion. And then there's a doodle of Earth and "You can call me Uncle" which is what my main antagonist says.

I may scrap some things since this was from a few months ago, but there's an early concept of it! Tell me what you think peeps :-)

Sneak Peak Number Three

I'll add another teaser for you guys on my novel, just since I'm in the mood ;-) I need to get back onto my writing schedule after being so busy and all. But anyway, here's an excerpt of the villain's bio, Uncle, or Mr. Lacerta. Uncle is not the name of a relative as you expect him to be...

"The Reptilians cowered in fear at the unexpected wrath. It was not like them to be fearful, but the firstborn had so much control anyone would be a coward. He forced the scientists to create more of his kind, and the original Reptilians knew it was time for them to leave. Most of them were killed by the new generation, though some fled in search of other planets. By now, the Reptilians had a bad name because of the newer generation. Nearly everyone forgot about how kind the old ones had been, and after awhile, that they had been kind in the first place. Civilizations stayed out of the Reptilians way as best as they could. They had done nothing wrong so far to other planets, so what could the Galactic Council do? Galaxies would just have to put up with them for now. Many planets suspected they would do something soon. (They did not know they had pretty much murdered the original Reptilians, thinking they had gone evil.) In truth, they were planning something big. Well, the firstborn was. He was no longer himself as he broke the galactic laws. The firstborn did not care for much anymore. No one had treated him the way he wanted to be, so this would be his payback.
The plan was to slowly take over as many galaxies as he could, planet by planet. The catch was it wouldn’t look like he had done it. He and the other Reptilians would be behind the scenes, letting civilizations destroy each other. All he had to do was add in spite and hybrids and he was set. Oh, and let the foolishness of others take over. It seemed to always work.
The Galactic Council did the best they could to stop the sudden madness, banishing them from galaxies and planets, even sometimes universes. They banished them from Earth, but the Reptilians went under their noses and snuck into the newly civilized Earth. The people there worshipped them as gods, like Quetzalcoatl from the Aztecs and Sobek from Egyptian mythology. The poor humans were oblivious to question their gods and technology. This time, the Galactic Council could do nothing but watch, and only able to help the people when they asked. It was painful to do so, but the laws of their culture were binded. Some attempted to intervene, though by then it was a hair too late. Humans were controlled by that time and their busy lives, and they began to live in the illusion of life."

That was just a little bit of Uncle's bio there! If you're hooked, don't worry! My novel should be out sometime this year, and if not, 2015! Ah the wait. Well, I have school and such. It would be done much faster if I didn't. Things to do, however. And like I've been saying, I've been busy, but I will write more often!

Doctor Who Season Eight Episode One: Deep Breath

Hey guys! I haven't been posting much lately since I've been so busy with visitors! I'll post about my adventures soon after. But for now... since my Whovian is showing, a review.
The intro was, once again, changed for a new season. I didn't mind the seventh season one too much, and I loved the season five and six how the TARDIS got struck by lightning. Now there's clockwork gears...? I have a hard time adjusting to new intros :P

The story started out as Victorian London with Vastra, Jenny and Strax with a dinosaur rampaging the streets. It doesn't exactly explain why, though. (I think the TARDIS in it's mouth traveled with it?) Vastra comments that it looks like it's chocking on something, and it spits out the TARDIS. They all go to investigate and Strax demands it be opened. The Doctor, now Peter Capaldi, opens it and everyone is shocked. The Doctor then gets confused with everyone and who they are, calling Strax Clara and it's very strange. He's still trying to figure out who he is.

The episode there after was slower than usual, finding out who had killed the dinosaur and the Doctor out in the streets talking to a poor old tramp crazily. Clara and the Doctor go to a restaurant, both thinking it to be them who invited them there with the 'Impossible Girl' ad. It was neither, and they both find out they are not in a restaurant, it's just disguised that way. It is filled with robots that make themselves look human and they have to take a 'deep breath' so they can pass by as them since they don't breath. A bit scarier than Blink. Ok, maybe not. Clara soon gets captured with the Doctor, but they break free with the sonic screwdriver and then the Doctor gets out of the room, accidentally leaving Clara in the room with the leader of the robots that look like humans. She has to hold her breath for a long time, which I feel bad for. I mean, the Doctor sorta abandoned her for the time being! She then gets knocked out and the leader questions her about where the Doctor is. Suddenly remembering how her class treated her, she does the same as a student did "I won't tell you unless you tell me first." or something like that. Good thinking, Clara.

Thankfully the Doctor shows up disguised as one of the robots when she says he'll show up if he's still him. Then Vastra, Jenny and Strax all show up :D Vastra and Jenny all ninja-like and Strax like a potato falling from the ceiling xD Pretty funny. They get overwhelmed by the robots as the Doctor is talking with the leader about the Promised Land or something, which doesn't exist. Stupid robots. Going on for centuries about it, which basically turns out to be a paradise or heaven, something like that. Anyway, to get away from the robots, they all hold their breath for as long as they can. I even held my breath with them. Sort of. Then apparently Jenny and Vastra have a telepathic link as they can speak to each other in their minds. "I can't do it, I can't hold my breath for this long!" Vastra replies something like, "Don't worry, my love. I have much air to give." And she kisses Jenny on screen for air. First, don't get me wrong. I'm good with gays. It was just... a little too much. I would've said the same thing if it was heterosexual. Really. So I'm not against lesbians or anything of that matter. The scene, in my opinion, was just a little unnecessary. Plus I'm not one for romance, so please don't get offended. And after that, the Doctor talks with the leader of the skin robots in their skin ship which they used from the dinosaur, which they killed. Yeah. Bit gruesome. And the Madame de Pompadour ship made a slight cameo for some reason, sort of forgot why. But in the end, the leader falls off the ship and the Doctor saves the day. Yay.

The scene with Clara talking on the phone with Matt however was a tears moment. He knew he was going to regenerate soon, and he asked Clara if he'd look old and gray. He was disappointed a bit, as I was. But he said that it was still him and she shouldn't worry. He'd always be there. Excuse me while I weep in the corner :,( When Clara finally and unfortunately has to hang up, they both share a hug, though he's not quite the hugging type... yet. And they go out to have a snack or two.

There's an extra scene with the leader of the robot humans, who had apparently died, with a black haired woman explaining he's in the Promised Land and that her 'boyfriend' pushed him off the ship rather harshly. She may be the lady from the shop that gave Clara the Doctor's number... but what about River Song?! Though she's sort of dead but not really and gah!

~Now, some random scenes and what I thought about them.
The scene with Vastra and her veil made me as angry as Clara when she ranted. She wasn't the Doctor's girlfriend and never had a romantic relationship with him, unless you count her Victorian self. I liked how Jenny clapped, since I would too. Vastra then proceeds to going back to normal without her veil, since it was a test to see if she was worthy of being a companion, not just for his good looks as she is a Silurian and related her scaly face to other humans as to the Doctor. Pretty good scene, I guess.

The one scene I didn't get, however, was when Vastra was talking to Jenny while she dressed up for her. I was just as confused as Jenny was. A bit pointless that she dressed up while Vastra talked and explained things.

Ok, I'm stopping my review/rant for now! Overall, I'd give it a 6/10 or 7/10, when I usually give them 8/10s or 9/10s. Sigh. I hope this season gets better!! I have faith in Peter Capaldi, I know he can get better!

(UPDATE: I edited this from last night because the first part of the episode I wrote about got deleted!)

Bouckville Antique Week

So, today I went to the Bouckville Antique Week. It wasn't just any antique sale, however. It covered fields upon fields! Like this photo above shows in bird's eye view. The biggest antique sale apparently. And I loved it! Though at first I couldn't find anything I liked at a reasonable price. I was aiming for finding cool wooden carvings. I did, for $75 and higher. Darn. I kept searching for a cool book or wood carving, something at a reasonable price. Then I stumbled upon this:
I absolutely love birds, and I live in New York so I thought this was perfect. And it was in great condition! I looked for the publication date. 1912. It's 102 years old this year, and it looks much younger! Amazing. Now I got to search for Wild Flowers of New York, as I instantly searched this up on the Internet when my family and I got back home. It's interesting, especially for the bird watcher and appreciator of the old fashioned.

Then there was that wood carving I was searching for. I thought I'd find something cool, but useful. And I did! There was a tent with all wooden sculptures and carvings of animals, all for around a few dollars. They had frogs that held sticks in their mouths so you could skim it across their backs, which made it sound exactly like a frog! And there were pigs and crickets that did the same thing. I was tempted to get a cricket (I may get one later, who knows) but I especially liked one of the owl whistles. Here's a picture of it:
It was one where you could blow into it and it sounded like its animal it appeared to be. (There were ducks and elephants as well) $9. Awesome! Though it isn't completely an antique, I still love it. You can do all sorts of owl calls with it, like the Barred Owl or Great Horned. Sorry, I think my bird nerd is showing. Yep, it definitely is.

Lyra Phoenix Sketch

Finally updating my blog again! Once again, my friend drew a character of mine. Lyra Phoenix this time! And I even made a version with her in a sweatshirt, like she is in the scene I wrote on Sneak Peak Number Two. So here it is:
Purple shirt version
Sweatshirt version
How do you peeps like them? :D Very happy with them. I can't believe I actually added the sweatshirt on. In which I previously thought I couldn't do these things! Thank you digital art for the the eraser and undo button xD Next up will be other versions of Lyra (most likely) or Uncle the main antagonist! Say who you want to see first in the comments below!

YouTube And Sketches

To promote my book further, I'm going to do some videos on a YouTube channel! Can't wait to start! (It'll most likely start around September) Basically I'm going to say some highlights of my life like here on my blog, and connect some things to my novel. It's not all worked out yet, but I'm really excited about it! Maybe I'll even have the camera on me :D My user is Kyra Lyn Moss, though I have not uploaded videos yet. Don't worry, they'll come soon enough! There will be sneak peaks and how I make my novel and cover art, all that jazz. Speaking about art, here are some drawings a friend of mine drew of my main character, Gwen Blackwell:

First version, slightly longer neck

Second version, slightly shorter neck

How do you guys like these sketches? I think they're pretty accurate according to my mind. Gwen agrees with the drawings ^-^

Hopefully I can get of Lyra soon as well, that would be neat! Feel free to comment!
